Where do
you find the Serial Number?
When you
run Precision Mapping Traveler, a dialog box will prompt you to register the
software. Click on register over the internet and follow the on screen
directions. It will direct you to
www.registermyapp.com where you will enter in your product code and
information. It will then supply you with a serial registration code to
enter into the software.
My
registration code doesn’t work.
Check to
make sure you properly entered in the product code when registering the
product. Also note that each product code is unique to the computer system
that it is running on. A registration code from one computer will not work
on another.
When I
zoom in streets are not being displayed.
The CD is required to be in the drive for operation,
it contains all of the street information. If it’s not in the drive, you
will not see street information or be able to search for them. If you do
have the disc in the drive and it still does display, check the
configurations to be sure that the software is properly configured. If you
go to the File Menu and Configure, look at the Data Path settings for Street
or States. It should be pointing to your CD-ROM drive (i.e.
“D:\PMAP50\States\”). If it’s not, change it to the proper path statement.
When I
search for an address, all I get is the city (or just city and state).
A number of possibilities for this problem. The
three most likely causes are...
(a) Your data paths are not pointing to the
correct data folders. Select File, Configure and then select the
Directories tab. Make sure the folders in each of the input boxes
are pointing to the location where you installed the program on your
system. You can click the ellipsis button (to the right of each
field) to browse the folders on your system and locate the appropriate
data locations.
(b) The information you are entering to search
for is ill-formatted. The correct format is:
# and
Street Name, City,
State (Note that the commas are required)
(c) Some files, in your installation folder are
corrupt, or something during the installation caused some files not to
be copied to your system. Re0install the program from the
distribution disk.
I am getting an installation error: “msiexec.exe file is linked to missing export
msi.dll:222”
Reboot your system and try running the installation
again. Some files may have been in use and the system needs to be rebooted.
I am getting an installation error: “Error 1904 module c:\windows\system\oc30.dll
failed to register”
On some systems this error is triggered but should
not affect the operation of the software.
Every time the CD is inserted the installation
begins.
Windows
does not know that the software has already been installed, just click on
cancel and exit out. If you would like to disable the auto install, you
would need to change your settings in the control panel and disable the auto
install on the CD-ROM drive.
Can I
run the program without having the CD-ROM disc in the drive?
Yes you
can, but you will have to manually copy the Street information over to your
hard drive. To do that, create a States folder inside of the PMAP50
folder. Using Windows Explorer, open up your CD-ROM drive and go into the
PMAP50 directory. You will see a States directory. Copy all of the files
from the States directory on the CD to the States directory on the hard
drive. After copying the file over, select all of the state files on the
hard drive and right mouse click and open the properties page. TURN OFF THE
READ-ONLY ATTRIBUTE. If you do not do this the software can not read the
files. Next, configure the software so the States/Streets path is pointing
to the hard drive, not the CD-ROM drive. In PM5, go into the File Menu,
Configure, and change the States/Streets data path statement to read from
the hard drive (i.e. “C:\PMAP50\States\”).
I get the error message 'Failure:
Roadway Disconnected' when I ask the program to calculate a route."
The XMAP.RTE file is used by Precision
Mapping Traveler 5.0 to bridge problem node points in the data when
performing point to point route calculations.
The zip file XMAP0218.ZIP contains the file named 'XMAP.RTE'. This file
will replace the original file that was installed onto your computer by
the setup program. You will need to locate the folder where the file was
installed in order to replace it.
By default, the file is installed to the C:\PMAP50 folder. To confirm its location, or if you changed
the default path, use Windows Find (Start, Find) to locate the file XMAP.RTE on your hard drive. Write down the full path to its location.
You'll also need to
note the folder where the zip file was placed when it was downloaded.
Follow these steps once the file has been downloaded. [ENTER] means press
the [ENTER] key:
1. Using an "unzip" program such as WinZIP or PKUNZIP, unzip the
XMAP0218.ZIP file to a temporary folder. This will extract the file
XMAP.RTE.
2. Copy the XMAP.RTE file into your C:\PMAP50 (or folder where the program was installed). Reply 'yes' when
the computer asks if you want to replace the existing file.
You are now ready to restart Precision Mapping Traveler.
