Problem: Error 1305 or 1309
Solution: The CD could possibly be dirty. Sometimes a speck of dust or dirt on the CD could cause this problem. Try
cleaning the CD and reinstalling the application. Should the
problem continue after cleaning the CD, then it is very possible
that the CD is either damaged or defective. Contact Trailer
Life Customer
Support regarding replacement CD's.

Problem: Error 1904.
Module C:\Windows\System32\oc30.dll
failed to register.
Solution: This error may occur, during installation on some
systems, possibly because oc30.dll is already present and used by
another application. Although the error message appears, the software installs
properly and
the software should work as expected.

Problem: During Installation your receive:
Error 1931.The Windows installer service
cannot update the system file:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\odbcji32.dll
Solution: This error may occur, during installation on some
systems, possibly because you did not shut down ALL other
applications, prior to attempting the installations, the
odbcji32.dll is already present and used by
another application, or the system files are locked by some
virus/system protection program you are running. Although the error message appears,
usually the software installs properly and the software should work

Problem: Clicking on the
Products and Services button does not allow me back into the
program, or I can't close the Products and Services dialog.
Solution: This is a known problem with Windows and
it's DPI settings. You may also notice that the highlighted
areas, when positioning the cursor over some buttons, does not line
up with the text. To correct this problem, enter into the
Windows Control Panel and select Display. Select the Settings Tab
and click on the advanced button on the form. If your DPI settings
are set to a value other than 96, change them to Normal size 96 DPI. This
should solve the problem. Alternatively, if you want to keep
using
the different DPI setting, and still solve this problem, you can download
Service Pack 2, of the Trailer Life
program, and
install it to solve this problem. (Service Pack 2 also solves
a number of other issues, and enhances the routing calculations).

Problem: Often the proper city or
address is not found when searching for a city, or an address (*not* a
campground name). The search only returns the state as a
result or is unable to find locations.
Solution: This problem can be overcome by downloading an updated
file required by the searching system. The following
instructions should be used to update the system:
1) Download the updated file.
Cities03.bin (5 MB)
(or Download ALL
updated files at once)
2) When prompted to save the file, save it in the Data3
directory where the application is installed. On most systems,
that would be saved in the "C:\Program Files\TLCN2005\Data3\"
directory. Be sure to overwrite the old file when it prompts
you to, otherwise the new file will not take effect.

Problem: The software is not working with your
GPS receiver.
Possible Solution (1):
If you are attempting to use the software with
a USB GPS receiver, you will need to get a USB to COM Port software
driver from the GPS manufacturer. This driver will capture the
information coming in to the USB port and internally divert it to a COM port.
Most GPS unit manufacturers use *proprietary* COM emulations in
their USB devices, anyway, and they have recently made software device
drivers available for free (on their web sites) to allow *other* mapping
applications to work with their hardware. Find the manufacturer of
your GPS, go to their web site and look for a USB serial emulator
driver.
For example, here is the description from the Delorme web site: (http://www.delorme.com/support/gps/lt20001.asp)
"DeLorme
Serial Emulation Driver for USB Earthmate® GPS and
Earthmate® GPS LT-20 Receiver
This update installs the DeLorme Serial Emulation Driver
so that the USB Earthmate GPS and Earthmate GPS LT-20
receiver can be recognized in DeLorme Mapping
applications as well as other NMEA 0183 compliant
mapping applications". |
|
Possible Solution (2):
You need to make sure that the settings on
your GPS receiver, and/or any USB/COM emulator drivers, are the same
as the settings in the TLCN-2005 software (e.g. the COM port #, the Baud
rate, etc.)

Problem: When attempting to generate a route,
the software indicates "Error: Roadway
Disconnect".
Solution: This problem can be overcome by downloading two updated
files required by the routing system. The following
instructions should be used to update the system:
1) Download the updated file.
MRTE03.ZPX (8.6 MB)
(or Download ALL
updated files at once)
2) When prompted to save the file, save it in the Data1
directory where the application is installed. On most systems,
that would be saved in the "C:\Program Files\TLCN2005\Data1\"
directory. Be sure to overwrite the old file when it prompts
you to, otherwise the new file will not take effect.
3) Download the updated file.
MapPro71.OCX (5.5 MB)
(or Download ALL
updated files at once)
4) When prompted to save the file, save it in the
directory where the application is installed. On most systems,
that would be saved in the "C:\Program Files\TLCN2005\"
directory. Be sure to overwrite the old file when it prompts
you to, otherwise the new file will not take effect.

Download All Updated files at one
- Service Pack 2
Instead of downloading individual files, you may download all the
updated files, in a single install file, and update your system.
The following instructions should be used to update the system, with
this single install file:
1) Download Service Pack 2
MTLCN2005SP2.EXE (27 MB)
2) When prompted to save the file, save it on your Desktop.
Note: We get phone calls from users
that download the Service Pack but then cannot find it, in order to
install it, because apparently they have not saved it to the
Desktop. Users or Firefox, NetScape, etc. need to check their
browser settings and *know* where their downloads end up!
*That* is where they will find the Service Pack file, after the
downloading process has been completed.
3) When the download is complete, navigate to the folder
where your browser saved the file, double-click the icon of
the file you just downloaded, on your desktop, and follow the installation instructions
(Please, read and follow the instructions that appear in the
installation dialogs, carefully).
Additional notes --- SP2 solves a number of problems, described
in individual article entries above, including the problem with the DPI
setting that would render the system virtually inoperable if the value was set to
anything other than normal size, and it also provides a direct link to
this FAQ, under the Help, Online FAQ menu choice.

Problem: Sometimes, after I start using my
GPS, I get an "Overflow" error.
Solution: The most likely culprit for
this type of error is the baud rate setting. Make sure you set
the baud rate, at both the device and the program, to 4800.

|
 |
Problem: How Can I force the program to route me
over a route *I* prefer?.
Solution: You can add intermediate via
points along the road you want to follow by placing the mouse on the
desired location on the map and shifting the left mouse button while
holding down the Shit key. That would force the router to go
through those points.
