Has anyone been successful in running the program under ubuntu?

If so, step-by-step would be very appreciated.

I'm just about ready to give up on the whole windoz platform, it sucks :-( I am thinking of getting a small netbook with ubuntu on it.

Running it with ubuntu 11.10 here.

Slow, but it works. The speed may have to do with the fact that my older netbook only has 512 Mb RAM :-)

What step-by-step are you looking for? Here is what I did.

- Used my desktop to copy the contents of the DVD to a 8 Gb thumb drive
- Plugged the thumb drive to my netbook
- Opened the terminal program and navigated to the thumb drive
- Run wine to install the program (wine setup.exe) - Oh, yeah you need the wine emulator installed, first
- The process created a desktop on my system, which I then use to run the program.

Really simple!

I did pretty much the same thing, but the program failed to install. I didn't use a thumb drive, as I have an USB DVD drive. I tried to install it and about midway during the process (which by the way took forever), I got an error message about not being able to read a file from the source or something and the only thing I could do was to abort the installation.

Well, inability to read the data from the disk has nothing to do with installing on ubuntu, now does it? Don't know what the exact error you got was, but I would bet the disk is bad or damaged or scratched or just real dirty. It has happened to me many times, even with movie DVDs that sometimes will skip or not play. I look at them and they look really dirty. I clean them with a soft cloth and they work fine, once again.

I can tell you that I *just* installed the program in ubuntu for a friend, only a couple of days ago, without any hick-ups.

O.K., I finally got it. I used a different USB drive and got the same error. I then went out a purchased a newer 8 Gb usb drive, transferred the program to it and then installed in ubuntu without any problem. Must have been bad usb drives, or something. All is well now :-)
