Recommend RV Park in Las Vegas area?

Though we won't be doing it for a few months, we are driving to Nevada and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions/recommendations of an RV park in the Vegas area. Preferably something fairly quiet.

Thanks,
Jack

Jack, I don't have any personal knowledge for any of these places and haven't stayed at any of them, but isn't this what the roadtrip navigator program is for? To plan trips and stay at places based on the information in the program? Others may have stayed in one of these places and can chime in, but doing a quick search for Las Vegas, the 2012 version of the navigator found a bunch of places. I captured them for you, below. Hope this helps.

Camper22, I own the program and had done that already. I was just hoping that someone here might have a personal experience that they want to share. I value such evaluations more than what I read in some book or some software product.

Jacklan, my understanding is that the reviews that are part of the trailer life product are indeed done by people that have physically visited and stayed at these RV parks, so they are not any different than the "people-reviews" you are referring to. Like I said, that's my understanding, but I could be wrong.

Also, I don't know what exactly you me by "quite" (after all you are in Vegas) and I haven't personally stayed at it, but a couple of friends have and they raved about the Sams Town Hotel Casino and RV Park.

Jacklan, like calteron said, as far as i know, trailer life sends out teams of people that spend time at those places and then write their recommendations, based on that experience. So, recommendation by the navigator are people-based recommendations, as well :-) It just makes it easier to go to a single source to find ALL these recommendations and they are probably more consistent, since they are done by the same group of people!

Well, Camper22, that's what I always thought, as well, but I saw some posts in trailer life's own forums that started me wondering,

Now that's one man's opinion, but it does make you wonder.

As you said, that's one man's opinion and it's a classic example of anecdotal evidence, where one observation is used to generalize. A few years ago, I was at a rally and I met some of the people trailer life sends out to review parks. At least based on my discussions with them, they actually go out and spend time reviewing them before they come up with the ratings.

Now, having said that, one should take the ratings for what they are, and not always make the assumptions that what a reviewer thought was an 8-out-10 will match what they expected an 8 to be.

I've RV'd at the Las Vegas KOA and they really try hard to keep things in order. We didn't like it overall but it has the best location being in the middle of the most popular Casinos. If you plan to spend most times on the strip or away on outings then it's a good place. If you plan to stay in the RV park most of the time with occassional ventures away, then this is NOT a place I would recommend because I'm not a fan of the grounds (all asphault) and don't recall much to do there.

As members, we've stayed at the 1000 Trails campground and I hated that too. Sardines in a can have more room to manuever. My 38' fifth wheel with 4 slides left no other room and fitting the truck in the parking space took some doing. We'll not stay there with the rig any more.

I had a brother-in-law who stayed at Oasis and that was very nice and is roomy with lots of stuff to do.

I've heard good things about other places, but I don't remember which ones they were. So sorry about that!
